# Field Notes — fictional saved-filter example

Task: add a saved-filter control to a small work list. Preserve search and show an honest empty state.

The website's continuous example uses this real, deliberately small module. The first draft is an authored teaching fault: it returns every item when a filter matches nothing. The test suite is actually executed against that draft and the corrected module. `build-saved-filter-evidence.cjs` records both results, the exact diff and source hashes. No separate reviewer agent, Code Overlord session, cloud execution or hosted pull request is claimed.

The review is a source review by Codex: `matches.length ? matches : items` silently changes the meaning of an empty saved filter and can show work the visitor explicitly excluded. Return the matching set unchanged. Keep the selected filter visible and display an empty state.

Run `node --test examples/saved-filter/filter.test.mjs`. The proposed commit subject is `Add saved filters with honest empty results`. Publishing it is outside this example; the website does not execute Git operations.
